|This year our two tours will be handled by Experience Rhode Island Tours.
Tuesday, August 24th, 2021 - Newport - Please be in the hotel lobby by 8:45 AM. The bus will leave at 9:00 AM sharp. This tour includes a visit to the
Beavertail Lighthouse, tour of the Naval War College, lunch at the officers club and tour of the grounds. After the naval visit, our buses will take us on a tour of
Newport. We will have drop off and pick up locations, so the walking will be minimal. The price of the tour is $75.00 per person. This includes transportation,
transportation gratuity, lunch at the officers club including lunch gratuity. While in Newport, if you want to tour one of the mansions, the bus will take you there
and pick you up. The cost of the mansion tour is your responsibility.
Wednesday, August 25th, 2021 - The Magic Of Mystic - Please be in the hotel lobby by 8:45 AM. The bus will leave at 9:00 AM sharp. This tour includes
Mystic Seaport Museum - stroll through the recreated seaport village! The village is comprised of dozens of real New England buildings staffed with historians,
musicians, storytellers and craftspeople who bring our seafaring past to life. The buildings you see aren’t replications; they are trade shops and businesses from
the 1800s that were transported to Mystic Seaport Museum from locations around New England. The Seaport Village is made up of many bustling maritime trades.
From shipsmiths and coopers to woodcarvers and riggers, discover how America’s maritime past shaped life today. The tour also includes a steamboat ride on the
Mystic River. Both admissions are included in the price of the tour. We will also visit Mystic Village. In 1963, a man by the name of Martin Olson bought the land
where Olde Mystick Village currently resides. He originally planned to build a mall on the land, known then as Perkin’s Farm. Edward Malley Company of New
Haven, CT advised him not to pursue the mall construction because the local population was not sufficient enough to support it. Martin’s twin son and daughter,
Jerry and Joyce Olson, decided to build a 1720-style Colonial village with a Meeting House, inspired after Peddlers Village in Pennsylvania. Joyce managed the
property while Jerry headed the construction, which began in 1972. Visitors from all over the world come to enjoy everything the Village has to offer. From its
humble family beginnings, the beloved community of shops and restaurants has continued to operate out of love, from the Olson family to yours. Lunch will be on
your own at the Village. There are at least 4 or 5 restaurants to choose from. Later we will visit downtown Mystic where the movie Mystic Pizza was filmed. The price of the
tour is $80.00 per person. This includes transportation, transportation gratuity, admission to the Seaport Museum, and the steamboat ride. Walking can be as little or as much as
you want. A must see if you haven't been there. Hope all will go.
